Since Edmund Oak’s debut, the 28-year old Copenhagen-based musician, also known as Jonatan Bengta, has been busy playing shows and recording new songs to his forthcoming album. For a year, Bengta has focussed on his chaotic, hypnotising and dreamlike solo-shows. Shows looping-up Jonatan’s soft vocal and distinctive guitar-playing, and often spiced-up with percussion, old grammofons, noisy synth and guitarpedals. Edmund Oak made a second tour of Japan in spring 2009. A tour giving birth to new Edmund Oak tunes and a brand new project named “MOONBIRD”. More info will follow soon on this project. The Edmund Oak debut was recorded in Sct. Matthew Church in Copenhagen. It was guested by a great number of young musicians, including singers and players from Danish bands such as Blue Foundation, Jaconfetti and Under Byen. It received great reactions from the Danish press calling it both “uncompromising”, “beautiful” and “very different”.
